Comparing regional and national accreditation

Historically, nationally accredited schools offered career-oriented and technical training, while regionally accredited colleges and universities offered liberal arts education. Today, there is less distinction. Career colleges enhance technical training with general education and award master’s, bachelor’s and associate degrees as well as technical diplomas and certificates; regionally accredited institutions offer direct-to-employment programs such as business administration and paralegal science.
