Who was the very first student to have their student ID taken at Globe University – Madison East? The answer – Brett Kammerer. He registered for classes before the campus opened in January 2010 and has been a part-time massage therapy student ever since. Throughout his time at Globe, Brett has continued to work a full-time job and at times also a part-time job.
Brett recently passed his national certification exam for therapeutic massage and bodywork and is fulfilling his externship hours at Relaxation Station this quarter. He will graduate in June with his associate’s degree in massage therapy.
In what little spare time Brett does have, he enjoys wood carving, running, and writing. Last year, Brett won 3rd place for his short story, “Between Worlds”, which was published in the Creative Quill, Volume 7, located in the campus library.
One of Brett’s favorite projects while here at Globe was the creation and execution of the free massage clinic for the East Madison Community Center. In his Business of Massage Class last year, Brett was one of 4 students who helped write and present the business plan. He has also been instrumental in helping raise money for the clinic and is looking forward to volunteering there once it is up and running.
Massage Therapy Program Chair, Robin Rinehart, said “Brett rocks in the classroom and is constantly putting 110% forward on whatever he does. He is a model student.” This is evident in his work on campus, Brett has been a student assistant in the library, volunteered to help with many massage projects, and is also a writing tutor this quarter.
Globe University – Madison East staff and faculty are proud to recognize Brett Kammerer as this month’s Student of the Month. As Student of the Month, Brett received a certificate, special parking spot for April, and $15 gift certificate to the school store.
