    Medicare is an excellent model for universal access. The insurance industry drives health care today and unfortunately has tremendous political power with $$$ to politicians. Private insurance has a 24% overhead compared to 3% for Medicare, which ‘partners’ with private sector insurance companies for supplemental coverage.
