Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology starts this fall

Mechanical Engineering TechnologyGlobe University will start classes in October 2012 for a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.  If you have an interest in how things are made, why things work, and are always thinking of ways to make things better, this program is for you.  Mechanical Engineering Technology is a great opportunity for students who want hands-on practical knowledge in engineering drafting, solid modeling, stress analysis, manufacturing processes and materials, conducting experiments, machine design and overall mechanical design.

Graduates are mechanical engineering technologists, capable of doing much more than drafting.  More often titled mechanical designers or design engineers, the graduates will be qualified to work more independently on their own projects with the ability to accept more responsibility and more pay!

This curriculum has been carefully crafted to meet industry needs with the help of Globe’s Program Advisory Committee.  Classes include Solidworks, Creo, Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Statics, Strength of Materials, Machine Design, Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, Lean Manufacturing Design and much more.  While still based on theory, Globe’s courses will focus on the practice of engineering – not the theoretical derivations from calculus and physics.  Many courses will include a lab; you will be learning by doing, rather than boring lectures.

This BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology can be started from the beginning – requiring 180 quarter credits or if you have an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Drafting, Industrial Design, Engineering Technology or similar technical field, you can block transfer the AAS degree and take only the last two years of the program (similar to other 2+2 degrees).  Transfer specialists at Globe with work with you to see what will transfer.

Often credits from a drafting or technical college will not transfer to a four-year degree.  If you have been working as a drafter or technician, this program provides you a chance to continue your education without losing all those credits.

Schedule flexibility includes options during the day and evening, and students can choose to attend full or part-time. There is also an opportunity to incorporate online learning into your schedule.
