Project S.O.S. Was A Success

Global Citizenship students at Globe University Sioux Falls were busy helping students pick out backpacks this past Saturday. As part of their course students choose between two different service learning projects to partake in, one was Project Supply Our Students hosted by the Banquet in Sioux Falls.

The Banquet’s website describes Project S.O.S. as providing “area students with essential school supplies. Many dedicated individuals, businesses, churches and other organizations contribute to make this project a tremendous success. The Banquet has given more than 6,400 school supply packets to students this current school year. Ninety percent of those supplies are given to students right here in the Sioux Falls School District. The Banquet is the only agency that provides school supplies for students in need. Although our biggest push for supplies comes just before the start of the school year, The Banquet collects items for Project: S.O.S. year round. You can assist by making a monetary donation or donating supplies.”

Students in Global Citizenship arrived bright and early and were ready to greet students at Whitter Middle School to help them prepare for the upcoming school year. Students helped with various tasks such as greeting students, handing out back packs for various grades, and packing up the empty boxes. Although it was a rainy morning, that didn’t stop the excitement in the gym and the students picking out their backpacks.
