Accounting Assets – Program’s First Internship

Accounting Program’s First Internship

The Accounting Program in Shakopee successfully completed its first Internship during the Winter Quarter of 2012. Our successful Intern was Danielle Engrav; Danielle interned at H&R Block in Shakopee and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Danielle is a Shakopee resident, a graduate of Shakopee Senior High School and has been taking classes at the Minnesota School of Business-Shakopee since the Fall Quarter of 2008.

The internship was designed as unpaid unless Danielle reached the point where she was making money for Block. On February 1, 2012 Danielle was notified that Block was going to begin paying her…she was “producing revenue”, in Block’s terminology. Danielle was excited, enthusiastic and extremely grateful that MSB offered an opportunity for an internship. To add icing to the cake, Block asked her to stay on for the entire tax season.

Danielle felt that her educational experiences at MSB prepared her well for the internship. Danielle’s internship supervisor indicated that Danielle “exceeded expectations”.

Another internship is scheduled for the Spring Quarter and a successful and rewarding experience is anticipated for both student and employer.
