Globe University Sioux Falls participates within the Minnesota Collegiate DECA in which all students can join and have fun gaining real world experiences.
What is DECA? DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Some of the exciting events that DECA members are able to do is attend conferences and participate in recognition events at state and nationals.
Recently, two Globe University-Sioux Falls students attended the Professional Development Conference in Saint Cloud, Minn. This conference taught the students how to “Storm into the Future” from the keynote speaker Steven L. Blue.
Blue talked about real world experiences and what to expect when you enter into the workforce.
According to Alyssa Sternhagen, the Globe-Sioux Falls DECA chapter president, “Mr. Blue enlightened us by explaining how I can unleash my career dreams with high energy and to unlock my true potential.”
Following the keynote speaker was a break-out session with business professionals. Ryan Penneau discussed the truth about being a leader and how leadership is not for the faint of heart.
Penneau also discussed “Business of Be the Change” where he talked about how students sometimes forget that good intentions need to have more determination and persistence in order for them to be successful. Other guest speakers were Brandon Johnson, Jermaine Davis, CJ Dude, and Jessica Town-Gunderson.
DECA gives students an opportunity to meet other students within different degree programs and learn what it means to be successful in both college and within a career. Join us on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 5:15 in room 209 to learn about DECA, or contact our Globe University-Sioux Falls Chapter President, Alyssa Sternhagen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
