Around the Globe: Get to Know Classmate Brittany Krause

Name: BrittanBrittany Krausey Krause

Nickname: Brit

Program: Veterinary Technology

Expected Graduation date: June 2016

Why did you choose Globe University? I chose Globe University – Appelton because it offered my program close to home. I also liked that it was a smaller campus where teachers’ individual attention can be given to a student.

What do you do to stay motivated? I think of my husband and son. My husband has done so much to support me going back to school, and I want to show my son that hard work does pay off in the end.

Who are your biggest supports with school and why? My husband has taken on a lot more responsibility with parenting and getting things done around the house. He allows me to have time to practice and study. I would not be able to be successful in school without all of his help.

What are you most proud of so far academically? I am very proud that I have maintained my GPA with perfect attendance. I am also pleased that I have passed every math competency and skill so far!

What is your go-to study snack? Red Bull. With a son to take care of after classes, it allows me to stay up at night doing my homework!

Favorite color: Purple

Favorite book: It’s a toss-up between the Game of Thrones series and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Favorite TV Show: Lost. Whenever I have down time, I love re-watching all the episodes on Netflix. My husband and I loved the show so much; we named our son after one of our favorite characters!

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you? Going for the impractical, I would choose a hammock, fully stocked Tiki bar, and a lifetime supply of chocolate.

Favorite quote: “The good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it,” Neil deGrasse Tyson.

If you could choose someone to play you in a movie, who would it be/why? Anna Faris. She has a refreshingly sarcastic sense of humor.

Tell me about a unique experience you’ve had: I was scuba diving in Florida for a part of my Master Scuba Diver certification, and I was able to swim with sharks. We were diving through shipwrecks with some fish that were the size of cars, and sharks that were swimming all around us. The water was warm and clear, and it was an awesome experience.

What do you do for fun? Spend time with my husband and son. With our busy work and school schedules, it’s great when we can all spend time together!

If you could spend 24 hours with anyone, who would it be and why? Neil deGrasse Tyson. Speaking to an astrophysicist and even getting the slightest bit of knowledge from him would greatly influence my understanding of the universe. It would be extremely interesting and mind-opening.

What is your pet peeve? Slow walkers. I’m always on the go and need to get places quickly!

If you were granted one wish, what would it be? That my son grows up happy and healthy!
