What’s a teacher to do when it’s nice outside and you need to review for a test? Take it to the sidewalk! Students in various veterinary technician classes decorated the school’s sidewalk and parking lot with chalk art. It was not just a fun project, but educational as well. The hematology students drew white cells and abnormal red cells. Then, as a class, they reviewed the function of each white cell and what causes the abnormalities in red cells. Other classes drew anatomically correct hearts, parasites and bacteria. The flow of blood through the heart was also discussed in lecture, and then drawn with chalk to help with visualization.
