From Kuwait to College – National Guardsman Chooses Globe University

Zaide Gray attends the Globe University-Sioux Falls campus where he is working toward his bachelor’s degree in business management with emphasis in human resource management.  He is married to Jana and has two dogs, Charlie and Maggie.  In addition to school, Zaide works full time at Esurance where he is going through training to be a licensed customer service representative.

business managementBefore Zaide decided to further his education, he enlisted in the National Guard where he was a Multiple Rocket Launch System crewman (MRLS).  He was deployed for a year in Kuwait and was happy to come home.  He has helped South Dakota numerous ways throughout his service in the National Guard and has enjoyed every minute of it.

Prior to attending Globe University, Zaide attended a technical school where he found himself lost in all of the paperwork.  A friend told him about Globe University and thought he would check it out.  He flew through the admission process and clicked right away with our financial aid director, Micah Hansen.

“If you are currently enlisted or a veteran, going to college has an abundant amount paperwork that needs to be filled out, and Micah made it so easy, compared to the other school I attended,” Zaide said.

In addition to the financial aid staff, Zaide said, “The small class sizes are refreshing because you get to know your instructor and the instructors have real world experience which brings a different element to the class because we learn by doing, not just lecture.”

Zaide is an active member in DECA where he has helped with many different funding raising events.  Zaide held office last year as the secretary for the local chapter. He took meeting minutes and distributed them to the members.  Zaide has also competed at the DECA state level and continues to strive towards mastering his debate skills.

“The military taught me to stay focused and complete the task at hand,” Zaide said. “Globe University has the same philosophy and wants me to be successful both in school and after I graduate.”

He added, “If you are looking for a college that is extremely military friendly, Globe University is it!”
