Fun and Fundraising Results in $3,500 for Cancer Research

businessGlobe University-Madison East Business Communication students, under the direction of super promoter and business instructor, Meredith Beckman, conducted a Holiday Fundraiser for Cancer.  The event, held at the Waunakee Village Center on December 13, raised an amazing $3,500 for Effcansah, a local Dane County Breast Cancer Foundation.

This was a family event offering carnival games, face painting, a silent auction, food, a DJ/Karaoke, and a raffle. More than150 people attended and took part in the revelry.

The students were charged with putting together all the logistics of planning, organizing and conducting the event.  As such, they participated directly in many of the necessary business elements required in a small business operation.  They learned first-hand how to do accounting, marketing, customer service, and operations.

The students were elated with the results and took a tremendous amount of pride in putting together a top-notch event that contributed greatly to a wonderful cause.

This is just the latest in several great events that Meredith has coordinated for her business degree students. She is a high-energy instructor who relishes the opportunity to have her students experience first-hand the benefits of business planning and coordination.
