When making a game is a game in itself

An article emerged today on CNN.com titled “When making a game is a game in itself”. The article focused on the $1 million donation to a new video game that hasn’t even been created yet. The new video game titled Double Fine Adventure has raised a total of $1.2 million for its new venture. Promising that:

“With this project, we’re taking that door off its hinges and inviting you into the world of Double Fine Productions, the first major studio to fully finance their next game with a Kickstarter campaign and develop it in the public eye … This year, you’ll be given a front-row seat as they revisit Tim’s design roots and create a brand-new, downloadable “Point-and-Click” graphic adventure game for the modern age.”

So how did they do it? They used Kickstarter. A new platform that helps fund creative projects. They fund new projects anywhere from performers, illustrators, writers, musicians to filmmakers. Projects can only be funded if the full amount has been accomplished titled as an all-or-nothing approach.  For more information on Kickstarters project guidelines click here.
