In this tough economy, employees are finding that it’s harder to get ahead. Whether you are a recent college graduate or a seasoned professional, volunteering can help boost your career.
This Friday, May 17, Globe University-Minneapolis is hosting a Volunteer Fair to show we care about our students, employees and the community. Volunteering makes all of us feel great. We are empowered and it can boost our career.
This volunteer fair is a collaboration between the Global Citizenship class and the campus’s community service day. For a service-learning project, the students in the class wanted to find ways to get the community more involved by volunteering; one group of students chose to work with youth, the other with nutrition.
Denishia Alexander, one of the students in the class, said, “I chose to work with the youth because before I was of legal age I was in so much trouble. Everything was starting to struggle; my grades were horrible, I was suspended a lot because I fought for respect and didn’t earn it, until I started going to anger management filled with volunteers. These people made me the person I am today. I believe if children have someone they feel cares, everything changes. That one person made a difference in my life, so we should keep the cycle moving.”
