As our August 2013 Veteran of the Month, Globe University and Minnesota School of Business are proud to honor Louis Goldstein.
Louis joined the Army Reserves at the age of 17 while he was still in high school during the fall of 2002. After graduating high school he attended St. Cloud State University from 2005-2009, graduating with a double major in Political Science and Communication Studies.
Shortly after college, Louis deployed to Afghanistan in August of 2010 and served for a year. While overseas, his unit provided route clearance support to ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) in the Helmand Province of southern Afghanistan. He was involved in twelve direct IED (improvised explosive device) attacks, two of which resulted in a traumatic brain injury. While serving, he was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was also honored with two Army Commendation Medals, one with the “V” device which represents acts of heroism involving conflict with an armed enemy of the United States.
Louis is currently a Sergeant First Class still serving in the Army Reserve as a Platoon Sergeant for the 309th Engineer Company out of Brainerd, Minnesota. He is also the alumni manager, for the Wounded Warrior Project covering both Minnesota and Iowa, which helps and assists injured service members in the area. Louis has been happily married for seven years and now has three children!
We would like to give a huge thank you to Louis and all of our veterans for their service. Globe University and Minnesota School of Business are proud to be a Yellow-Ribbon School supporting our military members and their families. We partner with WCCO to bring you the Veteran of the Month.
