Although the day started out a little gloomy, St. Paul Saints fans were greeted by a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the ball field recently. Parking lots were filled and concession stand lines were busy as fans filled Midway Stadium ready to watch the St. Paul Saints take on the Sioux City Explorers. Before the game even began, they had sold out General Admissions seating. Among the masses of people ready to watch some ball were students, faculty and staff from Globe University and Minnesota School of Business. One of Globe’s own staff members, Brittney Klingl, got a meet and greet with an essential part of the Saints team by escorting him onto the field before the game.
Meet this year’s Ball Pig, Stephen T. Colboar! Brittney was pleasantly surprised as the pig came running out of the pen onto the field.
“He was really friendly. I love animals so I loved the opportunity to interact with him. I was very surprised at how well he did his job. He came out of his pen and ran straight to the trainer who was holding his bottle,” Brittney said. “It was a very fun experience to be out there before the game!”
Brittney got the chance to feed Stephen T. Colboar from his bottle behind home plate.
“He was very well behaved and seemed to enjoy being a part of the action at the game,” Brittney said.
Although chants were shouted and “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” was sung, the St. Paul Saints were defeated by the Sioux City Explorers with a close score of 7-9.
The next Globe University and Minnesota School of Business designated Family & Fun Night is Sunday, August 17 against the New Jersey Jackals at 1:05 p.m. Don’t forget to come out and join us!
