Medical Assistant Student Wins Women of Tomorrow Scholarship

The YWCA Wausau presented an opportunity for two $500 scholarships to be awarded; one to a young woman who will graduate high school (spring 2016) and the other to a returning student that is 24 years or older.

On May 18, 2016, the Women of Vision awarded their 67th and 68th scholarships. One of those amazing winners is Maria Petrowski, a Medical Assistant student at Globe University-Wausau.Maria 1

Maria has two great influences in her life that helped shape her into the person she’s become, that faces her fears, and always lends a hand to those in need. Her father was a medic in the war and her mother, a single parent that faced her fears, and returned to school. Maria made the same decision her mother made all those years ago. Maria has five children; she helps them with their homework, makes sure they have everything they need, she goes to her classes, she does her homework, and she still manages to go out into the community to volunteer.

Maria belongs to the Student Ambassador Club, which shows that she goes above and beyond the normal student. She doesn’t just come to class and leave. She mingles with other classmates, helps them with their homework, she works in study groups and offers assistance with events taking place on campus. Maria always has a smile to share; she spreads that smile all throughout the Wausau Campus.Maria 2

Maria is more than just a Globe student; she volunteers at the Community Garden in Mosinee, dedicates her time to help out at her church, and she volunteers at the Foot Spa located at Mountain Terrace Senior Living in Wausau. Maria deserves this scholarship for being a strong empathetic, encouraging, and a motivating individual to those around her.

Congratulations Maria, you’ve earned this because of the person you are, so keep on smiling!
