VAA, LLC is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm that serves agricultural, industrial and architectural clients throughout the continental United States and Canada. This firm has hired 11 of our NTI School of Technology Globe University graduates. Not only did they hire 11 of our grads, but they also encourage employees, like Usamah Hayes, to teach courses at Globe.
“When we are hiring, we are looking for employees that will meld well with our vision and values—the core of our culture and our project work,” said Mark Mielke, VAA Partner and Recruiting Team Lead. “The NTI grads seemed to understand real application of skills and understand the nature of our work. We appreciate grads that are prepared technically in the programs we use (AutoCAD, Revit) and are ready to design, be productive, and be an active member of projects teams relatively quickly.”
Hayes teaches a Revit MEP course. His classes include Revit MEP and building load calculations for small commercial buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical design.
“He basically teaches the students how to use the Revit platform, perform calculations, select equipment, lay out the systems, and work effectively with the other disciplines involved in a building project,” said Mielke. “These areas are spot on with the type of skills we seek out. The mechanical department, which Hayes is a part of, is the fastest growing group in VAA based on percentage of revenue growth.”
The firm offers complete project delivery services, including master planning and feasibility studies; bulk material storage design; industrial architecture and general arrangements; site development and industrial track design; and civil, structural mechanical and electrical engineering services. VAA currently has an experienced staff of more than 100 engineers, designers and technicians located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
