Globe University “Golden” in Participation in Eau Claire Community Events

What do the sound of bowling pins, marching, cheering, and panting for breath have in common? Each of these represents a fund-raising community event in Eau Claire that was supported by faculty, staff, and students from Globe University this past weekend!

The events began on Thursday, May 3, 2012.  Our “Golden Globe” team of six faculty and staff headed to the bowling alley with over $800.00 of donations to give to our local Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Wisconsin at their annual “Bowl For Kid’s Sake” Event. Jamey Denning, from Admissions, had the highest score of 150!

Saturday, May 5, 2012, the “Globe Trotters” team  marched through the city of Eau Claire to raise funds for the annual March of Dimes Walk for Babies event.  Four Faculty and Staff walked in the 3 mile event after raising funds for premature births.

Sunday, May 6, 2012 Globe University sponsored the final water station at the Eau Claire Marathon. Donations were raised to help build a new YMCA /Community Center in Eau Claire. Our very own Shana Weiss, Regional Director of Team Forward and Kelsie Beckfield, Director of Admissions, ran the marathon cheered on by our water station teams! Several students and Instructor, Eric Wilmarth, from the Sports Massage class were joined by therapists from Optimum Therapies to treat I75 runners in the event to table a massage at the park.
