On Sunday, May 6th runners, walkers, and fitness enthusiasts will participate in the annual Eau Claire Marathon. The course consists of a full 26.2 mile course, a half marathon, and a two mile fun run relay. Proceeds will benefit the Eau Claire YMCA campaign for a new $14 million dollar facility in the city that may offer space to other non-profit organizations to make this YMCA a true community center.
Students from the MS 262 and MS263 Sports Massage classes will team up with staff from Optimum Therapies which specializes in physical therapy and medical massage. Students and staff from Optimum Therapies will provide table massages for race participants at the race site. This event will allow the students to practice the techniques they have learned in a true athletic experience while benefitting the community.
Faculty and Staff from Globe University will be supporting the event by volunteering at a “water station” along the running route. Volunteers will pass out water and sports drinks to runners as well as cheering them on during the final stretch of the race.
