5 Tips for Better Nutrition

Chris Pietrzak-WegnerOn Monday, February 27, the HFS program hosted guest Speaker, Chris Pietrzak-Wegner, former strength and conditioning coach for the Minnesota Wild and current owner of Metal and Earth. He gave a two-hour presentation on Nutritional Considerations for Athletic Populations. He provided an in-depth discussion of the five tips for better nutrition: hydration, protein, carbohydrates, fats and supplements.

Chris is a certified metabolic typing advisor and a functional diagnostic nutritionist. He also holds a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association along with the CHEK HLC – Level 1.

The students peppered him with questions about protein and supplements. Chris reminded the students that protein shakes should not be used as a substitute but a supplement. Nothing replaces good food.
