Globe University-Green Bay is proud to announce that a local high school was the recipient of one of the university’s We Care Awards! Between Minnesota and Wisconsin, 10 high schools won the award. West De Pere High School was awarded the scholarship on January 24, 2013.Over the past six years, Globe University has provided high schools with the We Care Award, which has included 61 sponsorships for Youth Frontiers Retreats. Youth Frontiers is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization that partners with schools to build positive communities where students thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. The organization’s vision is to change the way kids treat each other in every hallway, lunch line, and classroom of every school in America. Youth Frontiers is passionate about eliminating bullying in the nation’s schools, which has reached epidemic proportions.
Members of West De Pere High School’s student council applied for the scholarship, hoping to pair it with other anti-bullying campaigns the school is running. It is this type of awareness that Youth Frontiers hopes to create and enhance in high schools.
Globe University College Representative Milissa Kloida stated, “I have been actively working in classrooms at the local high schools this year and have seen first-hand how great West De Pere High School is! It’s obvious that their efforts to establish a positive learning environment are working and I was proud to present them with Globe University’s “We Care Award.”
Milissa traveled to West De Pere to deliver the good news and presented the award to Student Council Advisor, Laura Rollin. Globe University is very excited for Youth Frontiers to visit West De Pere!
The recipient at West Pere High School said, “I can’t believe we won! Our school has been working very hard to create a positive learning environment for our students. This sponsorship is such a great opportunity for our school and will really add to the anti-bullying program at West De Pere.”
