Professional Guests Add to Career Focused Education
How can you create a more inclusive workforce? How can you unite a team of employees? How do you disagree agreeably? Globe Business Communications students know have the answers!
Students in Brady Lowe’s Business Communications class not only receive interactive classroom instruction, they also connect with employers to understand how communication skills apply in the career world.
During the Spring 2012 quarter, students interacted with guests from Mayo Healthcare, Logistics Health, Gundersen Lutheran, and even took a field trip to WAFER food pantry to find out how local employers use communication in their workplaces.
Guest speakers add dimension to a course and provide career applications to learning objectives. Gundersen Lutheran guest speaker, Ann Wales, emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Caitlin Lyga of Logistics Health shared how strong communication skills are essential for career growth. Customer service, confidentiality, and safety were all topics of the presentation from Jeri Zagrodnick of Mayo Healthcare. During the field trip at WAFER, Heidi Blanke discussed conflict, nonverbal communications, and employee motivation with the students.
Globe University is a career focused university. Career application of classroom learning is paramount in the preparation of students for the global workforce.
