With the La Crosse Career Fair
just around the corner, what advice would you give to a student who’s planning on attending the fair to learn about job openings with possible future employers?
A: Research and prepare. Look online or contact your Career Services Department (if you are a college student) or your local Workforce Development Center to learn of the companies that will be attending and plan ahead. If there are companies you specifically want to work for or that spark your interest, research the positions that might be available now or in the future. Understand the company’s mission and values, be informed when you speak to a representative at the company’s booth during the fair. It will make you stand out. You can “plan your route” of companies that are priority, and be sure to stay open to those that you are uncertain about because many people have accidental careers! Be sure to have plenty of resumes printed and most of all – dress to impress!
Thanks for the wonderful advice Angela! Students, if you’re interested in attending the Career Fair on March 28 and would like additional advice, visit with Career Services! Sarah
