DECA, a national leadership organization that helps build the skills and character of business students, has found a place at Globe University-La Crosse. DeAnn Perzel, Program Chair of the Business Department, has begun a local collegiate DECA chapter and is advising the group. The Globe-La Crosse DECA club is made up of motivated students interested in pursuing activities to build their business skills, develop their leadership abilities, and to hone their character with volunteer and community projects.

Even though The Globe University-La Crosse DECA club is still new, group members have already been active with multiple events! In addition to group meetings and club fundraisers, the Globe-La Crosse DECA group has competed in their first DECA competition on Friday, November 11th and their first group service project the following Saturday!

To celebrate the group’s success, the day immediately following the Elk River Competition, the DECA competitors joined other Globe University-La Crosse students to volunteer and decorate Riverside Park for the annual Rotary Lights! The DECA team organized the group of over 11 students, staff, and family members to volunteer and support a wonderful community organization! Not only does the DECA group succeed with competitive DECA events, but they contribute to the Coulee Region Community with service projects.

DECA at Globe-La Crosse provides group members with opportunities for fellowship, networking with other DECA groups, and possibilities to build camaraderie with students at Globe University-La Crosse and other schools. In addition, group members also build relationships with community members through volunteer projects.
