Before Janet even graduated from Globe, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) hired her!
Often college students find jobs after they graduate. However, driven Globe University students like Janet Kotek find terrific jobs even before they graduate! Set to graduate at the end of December with a business management degree, Janet will already have been working for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Foundation for two months. Since the beginning of November, she has been enjoying her new job as a project coordinator with the UWL Alumni Foundation.
Finding a Mentor at Globe
While at Globe University-La Crosse, Janet found support and encouragement with DeAnn Perzel, chair of the business program at Globe University-La Crosse. “I enjoyed my business classes with DeAnn,” shared Kotek. “She is an amazing instructor and the best mentor I could ask for.”
With small class sizes and individualized attention, students are able to directly connect with Globe faculty and staff. Janet did this in her business classes with DeAnn. “DeAnn has made a lasting impression on me. I truly connected with her and felt that she supported me through this journey,” shared Janet.
DeAnn knew that Janet would be successful. “Janet has been a true pleasure as a student. Throughout her time on campus, I have witnessed her tremendous growth and development” said DeAnn. “This development came not only in the area of academic achievement and leadership, but in maturity and character as well. I am very proud to have been part of her journey and know she will be a success at whatever she chooses to do.”
Setting Goals and Achieving Them
Janet is driven. She had a great deal of work experience before enrolling at Globe, but she wanted to achieve other goals as well.
“My education helped me have a better outlook on life and myself,” said Janet. “It’s been a personal goal of mine to not only get a bachelor’s degree, but also that I be able to support a family.”
Taking classes on campus and online, Janet was able to create a schedule that worked for her. “I chose Globe because I knew I would have to work full-time and would not be able to be in class every day.” The flexibility Janet found at Globe helped her maintain her busy work and family schedule.
Drive, coupled with motivation from instructors like DeAnn, were essential factors in Janet’s success. “I felt like I pushed myself to be successful, so that I could set the example, that if hard work and consistency is put forth, it would pay off. I wanted to make everyone proud to know me.”
Finding Happiness in her Career
Janet’s education at Globe helped her find a great job as a Project Coordinator with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Foundation. “I love coming to work because everyone is truly happy to have me here,” said Janet. “I’ve been assured that there will be plenty of opportunity for growth in the system so that in itself is reassuring.”
“Congratulations to Janet on her new job at UWL and graduating from Globe,” said Carolyn Moe, director of career services at Globe University. “We’re proud of your accomplishments!”
