The room was filled with applause, cheers, and even some tears, but they were tears of joy. Yesterday evening, 60 Globe University-La Crosse students were awarded with diplomas at the Spring 2012 Globe University-La Crosse graduation ceremony. Student accomplishments were revered as graduates celebrated with family, friends, classmates, and the faculty and staff of Globe University.
Student speaker, and medical assistant graduate, Tasha Kuchar acknowledged the hard work and commitment to success the graduates tested while in school. “We have worked hard to accomplish the goal that we celebrate today. Some, perhaps, had moments when they thought they would not make it. But here we all are. We have put in the time, and today we reap the reward for our hard work and dedication.”
Kuchar’s favorite animal is a turtle, and for good reason. “Ever been asked what your favorite animal was? My favorite animal is the turtle. The reason is that in order for the turtle to move, it has to stick its neck out. There are going to be times in your life when you’re going to have to stick your neck out. There will be challenges and instead of hiding in a shell, you have to go out and meet them!”
After Kuchar delivered a terrific speech, and her sentiments about turtles, the students and guests learned about life in the circus from Brady Lowe, a former circus ringmaster. Lowe was the keynote speaker for the evening and is also a Globe University staff member and business program instructor.
Sharing a colorful story of a tornado at the big top and the circus folk that came together after disaster to reestablish the circus, Lowe reminded students that many of them relied on the support of others to succeed in the classroom. “You’ve all been faced with hard times, difficult classes, and stress. But it has been through your dedication, combined with the support from your family, friends, classmates, and instructors that you’ve overcome difficult times to achieve greatness.”
Kuchar sent forth the graduates to remember their time at Globe-La Crosse and to apply the knowledge that they gained. “We have had wonderful years at Globe that taught us about life. Now is the time to implement all that we learned. I urge you all to excel in life and continue to hold the name of Globe University high as ever.”
