The student commons area at Globe University-Madison West was alive with enthusiastic students and welcoming employees as the Career Services Department for Madison East and West put on their 3rd Job Fair for Globe students and guests.
Students who attended enjoyed the fair immensely.
Veterinary Technology student, Mariah Harrier said, “This was a nice opportunity for me. I learned what to expect for future classes, different job opportunities in the two fields I want to specialize in (Veterinary Technology and Criminal Justice) and lastly learned about the basic job skills I need to be successful.”
Information Technology student, Jill Roloff added, “This was a great opportunity. I obtained a lot of new information. For example, I didn’t realize that many staffing agencies have an IT recruiting department which is a great benefit for me. Some staffing agencies also offer full benefits as well!”
Career Services staff felt that it was a success and were pleased with the ending results.
Director of Career Services, Melissa Simon said, “I witnessed several students secure job interviews on the spot. The employers were impressed with our students and eager to follow up and discuss employment opportunities. The students who made the effort to attend definitely saw results. We look forward to collaborating with East to host another fair in the spring.”
Career Services Coordinator, Julie Christensen felt it was a strong event stating, “It was great to see so many students coming to the career fair dressed professionally and prepared with their resumes in hand. They really put their networking skills to use.”
Thirteen employers attended; with many specializing in the career fields Globe students are currently enrolled in. They included: Middleton Police Department, UW Police Department, Veterinary Emergency Services, Covance, Dean, UW Health Medical Foundation, West Business Services, Spherion, Robert Half International, Aerotek, The QTI Group, Covance, TDS and Elements Therapeutic Massage.
Additional job fairs are in the works with the next one to be held at the Madison East Campus tentatively scheduled for April 2012.
