Tutor Makes a Difference

Student of the Month: Katelyn Neumaier

As a veteran tutor in the Academic Skills Center for the past six quarters, Katelyn Neumaier started as a math tutor and believed she could help more students by adding writing tutoring to her repertoire, so she took it upon herself to become a more well-rounded tutor.

Katelyn, a Business Administration student, enjoys working in the Academic Skills Center and says she really likes seeing students’ faces light up when they begin to understand something.  Katelyn also took part in the 2012 WCIE (Wisconsin Council of Independent Education) Hill Day this past April as a representative from Globe University – Madison East.  She met with legislators to share her story about why she chose Globe and to help them understand our students and our school.

Outside of Globe Katelyn works at a clothing store and enjoys spending time with her five nieces and nephews and visiting with family.  She recently got engaged and her and her fiance spend a lot of time golfing.

Katelyn said her favorite instructor is Accounting Program Chair Sue Haine because she brings humor into the classroom. However, Katelyn says, “I’d like to thank Jim Brandmeier for being one of the most inspiring people who I have ever me.  I wouldn’t be doing what I am doing without his words of wisdom and encouragement to follow my dreams.”

“When you ask instructors for their best students, Katelyn’s name always comes up,” says Student Services/Academic Coordinator Cassie Chulick. “Katelyn is a hard worker, and she is always friendly to students and staff.”

Globe University staff and faculty are proud to recognize Katelyn Neumaier as this month’s Student of the Month.  As Student of the Month, Katelyn received a certificate, special parking spot for September, and a $15 gift certificate to the school store.
