As a way to show their appreciation to students who submitted works to the 2012 Creative Quill, Writing Instructor Anne Pfennig along with Campus Librarian, Amy O’Shea held a cheerful reception. Attendees enjoyed pizza, refreshments and homemade cookies.

The Creative Quill

Creative Quills David Jaworski and Scott Miller with Writing Instructor, Anne Pfennig

Students Scott Miller, David Jaworski, Becki Pflager, Dawn Stankiewicz and Reyneshia Jefferson all submitted creative works last fall. Those published were Scott Miller, who penned two poems called “Father.”; David Jaworski’s creative short piece called “Through the Window” and Becki Pflager’s two poems titled “Believe” and “Blizzard.”

The honorees received a certificate of appreciation, a copy of the 2011 Creative Quill and some fun library swag. Those published will also receive a copy of the 2012 edition once they are published.

When asked about how they felt being published David Jaworski responded, “I’m ecstatic.” Scott Miller added, “I think it is an honor to my father’s legacy to have the poems published.”
Anne Pfennig who coordinated the student’s submissions explained the reason behind the reception. “Our student writers have gone that extra step by submitting to the Creative Quill, and we wanted to honor them and their efforts and achievements with this event.”

Students who are interested in submitting to the 2013 Creative Quill, please note the deadline will be around Week 10 of the E.Fall Quarter. Be on the lookout for submissions information at the beginning of the quarter. If you have questions about future submissions, please contact Anne Pfennig.
