Susan, who also graduated with her medical assistant associate degree in September 2011 at Globe University, recently was hired by QuadMed to serve as the lead medical assistant. Her responsibility: open a medical clinic at a local insurance business.
QuadMed is a Wisconsin company that builds and manages onsite medical clinics for local businesses. Their latest clinic, which Susan is responsible for, is located at WPS, an insurance company in Madison, Wis. The clinic will be available to WPS employees and their families.
So just what will Susan’s workday look like?
“I’ll be in charge of all labs, wave test and blood draws that will need to be done,” Susan explained. “For set up, myself along with an RN, will be establishing everything from the front desk to the back office–stuff like ordering supplies, scheduling shifts, filing paperwork, setting up computer stations, helping with writing protocols.”
Susan is looking forward to setting up the new clinic. “I’ve always liked to dig my hands down in the dirt with companies. Other companies I’ve worked for I’ve been involved with several planning committees. I like to get down and dirty and start things up, so I think this is a great opportunity and we are putting this [clinic] together. Also, this is going to look great on my resume!”
In regards to the challenges, Susan shared, “It’s a double-edged sword, this opportunity. I’m scared because it is a new clinic and we will be base-lining their new employees. It’s always a challenge working with new people, but in time it will be just fine. It’s a good scary. It’s a good challenge. I’m looking forward to it.”
We at Globe University-Madison West congratulate Susan on attaining this great opportunity!
