Globe University-Madison West is happy to announce that Katie Olson, former Veterinary Technology Instructor has been promoted to Program Chair. Katie began her employment at Globe this last September where she taught Lab Animals, Exotics and Pocket Pets, Veterinary Medical Terminology, Introduction to Veterinary Clinical Skills, and Basic Hematology.
Katie hails from Oregon, Wisconsin where she grew up with 2 brothers and a sister. It was during high school, working at Country View Vet Clinic in the work to learn program that Katie found her love of animals. While in college, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, she also obtained her Certification in Veterinary Technology from Madison Area Technical College. She has over 9 years of experience including working at the Belleville Veterinary Clinic and the UW-Biochemistry Department.
When she is not working, Katie has spent her time skydiving, quilting, and playing volleyball. She mostly enjoys spending time with her husband and friends. You will often find her just hanging out or attending various UW Badger games. As a Vet Tech, it goes without saying that she has pets. Recently, she added to her family Patches and Blackie, two mice which came from our very own campus. Katie and her husband also share their home with their dog, Allie.
When asked on what she hopes to achieve at Globe, Katie focused right on the students. “I want to provide them a solid education. I hope our students will get all the basics down in order to become successful Vet Techs. I plan to work with students so they can pass their certification and will strive to shape them to become well rounded students who are ready for the real world.”
She adds, “This is a busy point in the quarter. There is always something going on and I hope students are enjoying it. I look forward to a bright future at the Veterinary Technology department at Globe.”
Join us in congratulating Katie and welcoming her to this new and exciting role at Globe.
