It is not too late to volunteer with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)! We have a handful of volunteers ready to help; we would love to have more students show their “We Care” spirit.
Volunteers are needed on Wednesday afternoons and early evenings starting in early January with additional, flexible opportunities as well.
The mission of the VITA/TCE return preparation programs is to assist eligible taxpayers in satisfying their tax responsibilities by providing free tax return preparation. To establish the greatest degree of public trust, volunteers are required to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct and provide quality service. An Ethics Module must be successfully completed before proceeding with the training.
The training materials are expected to come in the next few weeks and a meeting place and time will be met. We will email everyone at that time. Accounting Program Chair, Tracy Springer is very excited to coordinate this opportunity as she explains, “We will be doing tax returns at the Lussier Center (next to the Madison Memorial High School) from late January to early April. You can commit to a few days. It is a wonderful way to help others while also learning something that will no doubt help you and your family in the future!”
