Don’t Let Stress Get You Down!

I am inspired today to write this post about stress, because of some sad news I received regarding the untimely death of a cousin of mine. We so often allow stress to take control of our lives and we let it dictate who we are and what we do. Don’t let stress get you down! We all deserve to be happy and healthy and hopefully my suggestion below can bring you one step closer to managing your stress.

There are many different kinds of stress that we encounter on a daily basis and sometimes we need to get professional help to deal with the stress. However, there are some techniques that can be used to help us deal with the stress that can creep up on us and that is what I will be speaking to below.

As a massage therapist and energy worker for the past 20 years I have learned a great deal about how important it is to manage the stress in our lives. There are many ways to do this in a healthy and productive way and I would like to share one of the techniques that has been helpful to me over the years. This technique is extremely simple and can be helpful in those moments when you’re feeling a sudden bout of stress and just need to take a few minutes to calm down so you can reassess the situation you are dealing with.

JUST BREATHE

Below is a simple breathing exercise that is proven to help you relax. Give it a try and see how something so simple can calm you in those moments of stress.

Take a deep breath through your nose filling your diaphragm with as much air as possible, hold for 10 – 15 seconds and then release slowly through your mouth. Repeat 3 times.

With this simple breathing exercise you may lower your heart rate and increase oxygen flow to the brain. This simple exercise can help you to focus, stimulate brain activity and encourage your body to relax.

In those times of stress take a few moments to just breathe.
