Kristin Younger is a single mother of two wonderful children. She will be entering her second quarter at Globe University. Here, she explains why she decided to pursue massage therapy training at Globe University in Sioux Falls.
Why did you choose massage therapy?
I chose massage therapy because I believe in the natural power of healing through touch. Twenty years ago I had considered this career path but was told that there would not be a need or a strong financial future in the career field, so I did not pursue it. However, after looking at the growth of the field and all the possibilities, I finally made the commitment and am now pursuing my dream!
Why did you choose Globe University?
I chose Globe University based solely on the professional and friendly service that I received when I walked into the university. So far I’ve had positive experiences and looking forward to many more!
What would people be surprised to know about you?
My son was born with single ventricle heart disease and has already had two heart surgeries, and will need more in the near future.
What are your goals for after graduation?
My goals for after graduation are to find a place of employment where I can establish and help to heal people through massage and the power of touch. Possibly move to Wisconsin and continue school at the Woodbury campus.
Tina Simunek, massage therapy program chair, says, “Kristin is such an inspiration, even with her family commitments and personal responsibilities she has committed herself to follow her dream. I had the privilege to teach her first technique course and all I can say is Kristin is a natural. Massage therapy takes a special type of person to make this a career choice. Kristin has the passion and want to succeed. She is always willing to go above and beyond the normal ‘classroom’ and volunteer her time to gain hands-on experience. Kristin has a strong foundation and will build on her techniques throughout her schooling. I know she will be a fabulous massage therapist!
“I am very proud to say that after Kristin’s first quarter here, she has achieved highest honors! She is also receiving perfect attendance for her first quarter. Way to go Kristin!”
