How do you balance home, school and work?

The biggest challenge in balancing home, school and work are not the tasks themselves, but finding time for my daughter, my boyfriend, my family, and me. Keeping motivated is hard to do when you have so many things getting thrown at you unexpectedly, pushing you to your limits, trying to find a breaking point. With the support of everyone around me, I managed to stick to it and achieve my goal!

What keeps you motivated?

I get my motivation from seeing my daughter every day and realizing how fast time comes and goes. My motivation comes from tough times I have had and things I have learned that push me to success.

What impact has college made on your life?

College has made a big impact on my life. I achieved a goal that has been my dream for a very long time! I have wanted to become a licensed massage therapist since I was in elementary school. I have always had a liking for giving massage; it is kind of like my zen, my peace, my comfort zone.

Is there a staff or faculty member that has made a difference for you?

There are many that have made a difference for me. Two that have made the biggest difference for me are Carol Baumhart and Wendy Wettengel. [They] are both caring individuals and are great at what they do.

What makes Globe University-Appleton different from other schools?

I liked that Globe University is a hands-on school. You can learn a great amount from books, but it helps to have the hands-on experience for more knowledge of the text. The atmosphere at Globe University is very welcoming.

I chose Globe because it offered hands-on learning. I wanted to get as much hands-on learning as I could because I retain information better when I am performing what I am learning. I wasn’t too excited about some of the classes I had to take, and it took me a little bit longer than expected, but I made it through and am scheduled to graduate June of this year and am so excited to get into the massage field!

Do you have any advice for fellow or future students at Globe University?

Never give up! Times may be tough, but someone else has it worse somewhere. Keep your head high, and push yourself to success!

We’re very proud of you, Christel! We know you will be a great massage therapist.
