Globe University-Minneapolis Goes to the Hill

Written by Jerry Hughes

Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to meet with our elected officials and have face-to-face discussions? After all, our politicians are elected by each of us, and they are here to serve us.

March 11 marked the annual Minnesota Career College Association (MCCA) Hill Day at the capital. The purpose of Hill Day is for representatives from MCCA schools to educate legislators on the importance of supporting student access and choice in all areas of higher education as well as communicating the value and role of career colleges in providing education to Minnesota students.

There were many students from Globe University-Minneapolis that headed from campus, located in downtown Minneapolis, over to St. Paul to meet with officials. Some of the students and staff from Minneapolis met with Rep. Dehn and Senator Champion—both who are congressmen for our district of downtown Minneapolis, where our campus is located.

The Director of Career Services Jessica Spanswick attended Hill Day and had positive things to say about her experience. “It is so beneficial to speak directly with our elected officials on a topic that so many are passionate about,” Jessica said.

Hill Day 2014 was a great way for students and staff to speak up and be counted among the thousands of other who choose higher education such as Globe University-Minneapolis!
