Most of us are enjoying our summer BBQ’s and have most likely moved on from thinking about all the graduations we just attended or spent money on.
A couple of weeks ago, Globe University, located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, recently celebrated our graduating class of the 2013 spring quarter! It’s an exciting time to receive that diploma and realize the fulfillment of accomplishing something so exciting.
One of the fun aspects of our graduation ceremony is that it is held on the 50th floor of the premier IDS Tower, which is the same building where our campus is located. It certainly is a great location to impress friends and family, along with that diploma.
This ceremony was particularly exciting – it was the graduation with the highest attendance of guests and speakers. It was a graduation filled with accomplishments and excitement. One of the exciting moments was the keynote speaker, Melvin Tennant.
Mr. Tennant is the President and CEO of Meet Minneapolis (hence the title of our blog), which is a Convention and Visitors Association that promotes the Minneapolis community as a premier convention site and visitor destination. The mission of Meet Minneapolis is to market, sell and maximize the visitor experience of Minneapolis for the economic benefit of our community—all of which Melvin Tennant oversees. The graduation was enhanced because of our keynote speaker.
Joe Vanasse, criminal justice program chair, said, “He was the best graduation speaker I have ever heard—the students were motivated big time!”
The two student speakers were Kanesha Farris and Dominik Rauber. Both had a huge crowd cheering them on! The tears of joy and the smiles of accomplishment are priceless.
And on a bittersweet note, our Director of Career Services, Elaine Vandenburgh, organized her final graduation for Globe University in Minneapolis. Elaine will be assuming the role of campus director for the Minnesota School of Cosmetology in Plymouth. We are glad, however, that she is staying within the Globe University network of career colleges. Congratulations Elaine and congratulations to all of the graduates.
