When you think of a Master of Science in Management (MSM) degree, what comes to mind? Maybe you are wondering what the three letters mean or possibly you are considering an MSM degree yourself.
The Master of Science in Management is a business/management degree that Globe University offers to provide graduate education in management for local, regional, national, and international business. Classes are offered year-round, allowing you to complete the program in just 18 months if you study full time.
I went in search of some of our MSM students and found so many of them. One in particular, Srinivasa Satti, displayed a high level of knowledge, experience and professionalism. I wanted to find out why he chose this program and why he chose Globe University.
Tell me about your journey before you came to Globe.
I had completed my bachelor’s in computer applications back in India. I worked as a system administrator in India and UAE for around five years which gave me a vast amount of experience in Windows, Linux, Networking and VMWare areas.
What made you decide to come to Globe University?
I got a lot of exposure in the IT field in my role as a system administrator. I was more involved in the technical front and developed interest towards management activities. That is when I decided to complete a master’s degree in management information technology as a next step in my career and launched a hunt for universities. I came to know of Globe through my friends and decided to join Globe as I was impressed with their reviews of amazing in-class activities along with the practical project assignments which add a good amount of knowledge in the IT management arena.
What is your degree and when will you complete it?
I am doing my Masters of Science in Management–Information Technology (MSMIT) and I will be graduating in March 2014.
Are you currently working right now?
Yes, I am working now as a system administrator in WSB Associates.
What is your advice to other students who are considering a master’s degree at Globe University?
I would suggest Globe to all students who are considering doing higher studies in the U.S. The programs at Globe will definitely make way for better career opportunities in the future. The professors here are very knowledgeable and they provide special attention to guide each one of the students and help them achieve their goals. Even the other supporting staff members like librarians and the administration department do a fabulous job.
Do you feel that your experience at Globe enhanced your ability to work in the IT field?
Yes, I would definitely say that my experience at Globe enhanced my skills and helped me get a job in IT. I could see a noticeable difference in my working style and am able to understand the project management aspects better due to the strenuous courses I have completed so far at Globe. The director of career service, Jessica Spanswick, is very knowledgeable and was able to guide me to apply for the right job for my profile.
What are your plans once you graduate from Globe?
I am quite fortunate to get global exposure by working in three different countries (India, UAE and US). Using this experience and from the extensive project management related knowledge I gained from Globe, I want to work as a technical lead or manager role for the next few years. I also have an idea to start my own IT infrastructure consulting firm in the long run.
