Team Dynamics: Career Services and Business Program Chair Teaming Up to Enhance Corporate Alliances

Some things just happen naturally.  Sonja Simpson, Career Services Director for Globe University—IDS has been working hard over the past year in securing strong relationships between the downtown campus and local corporations.  Her efforts have fashioned Business Alliance Partnerships with the likes of Wells Fargo, TCF Bank, and Securitas.

 

At the same time, Tom Stoltz, Business Program Chair, has spearheaded an effort to
create a cluster of ten seminars designed to help businesses with training, motivating, and educating their employees. The seminar topics range interestingly from cloud computing to crisis communications and from making strategic business decisions to creating civility in the workplace.

With both of these efforts in place, Sonja and Tom have teamed up and are going out
and about the Twin Cities area talking to Alliance Partners and other businesses about the seminars and what their employees might need in terms of instruction.  Each seminar takes about 45 minutes and is delivered on site by a Globe University program chair at a corporation’s headquarters.

“The business alliance seminars will not only increase recognition of Globe
University—IDS and the expertise of our faculty but also boost awareness of educational programs offered downtown,” said Dr. Kris Blanchard, Dean of Faculty for Globe University—IDS.  “The effort to offer seminars pairs well with our mission of creating a culture of academic excellence and is a great opportunity for our entire campus, especially for graduating students and students seeking internships.”

Theseminars were developed by our Legal, IT, Health Care, Accounting, Criminal Justice, and Business program chairs. Options are also available to corporate partners to suggest additional seminar topics.
