‘Get To Know’ Dr. Susan Pudwill, New Moorhead Resident Veterinarian

Dr. Susan Pudwill is a the new Resident Veterinarian at Minnesota School of Business-Moorhead.

Q-Hello Dr. Pudwill, where are you from?

I was born in Fort Carson, Colorado.  My dad was in the army and he designed obstacle courses and training programs, so we moved around a lot when I was young.  When my
dad was in Viet Nam, we lived in North Dakota, as both my parents had been born and raised there.  I graduated from Washburn High School and UND (University of North Dakota) with a BS in medical technology.

Q-Where did you attend vet school?

Being a veterinarian is my second career.  I went to Iowa State University Vet School and graduated almost on my 40th birthday – only a few days off.

Q-I’m guessing you have some pets of your own?

I have 2 cats, a brother and sister, who are 11 years old. They are the kind of cats that know are cats.  The “staff” are the 2 dogs – Beatrice, a 10 1/2 year old spaniel mini-mix, and Bo Piddly, a 120-pound 2 year old black lab.  They are lots of fun.

Q-So, where in town do you live?

I live on 13th Avenue North in Fargo.  I was lucky to find an apartment that had no issues with all my pets. I lived in the Park Rapids area for the previous 4 years before to moving to Fargo in August.

Q-What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is ‘Father Goose’, a Cary Grant movie with Leslie Caron.

Q-Do you have a favorite book?

My favorite book is also an old timer from Mary Stewart called “The Ivy Tree”.  It’s a mystery where someone returns and everyone thinks she is a fake and impersonating someone but turns out to be the real person in the end.

Q-What type of music do you like? Do you have a favorite musician/musical group?

I like country music and southern gospel.  My favorite musician is Trisha Yearwood.

Q-What hobby do you enjoy most?

I have done a variety of hobbies from staining glass to cross stitching, and now am trying my hand at quilting.

Q-Why do you like instructing at MSB?

I have been having a really great time at MSB.  Everyone has been so nice and supportive.
I have enjoyed interacting with the students and look forward to each day here.
