MSB-Moorhead Holds First Ever Junior Vet Tech Camp!

'Dakota' was on hand for students to play with during the Junior Vet Tech Camp.

The Minnesota School of Business-Moorhead recently played host to its first ever ‘Junior Vet Tech Camp’. Twelve children attended the four-hour workshop that featured a number of different topics. Both Minnesota School of Business-Moorhead students and faculty worked with the children on practicing CPR, brushing teeth, viewing x-ray’s from different animals, and looking through microscopes to study ticks, ear mites, blood cells and worms.

“The kids were eager and excited to learn,” said Resident Veterinarian Alicia Wisnewski. “We’d love the opportunity to impact kids like that again.”

The ‘Junior Vet Tech Camp’ was held in conjunction with Moorhead Community Education. The campus has partnered with the organization on numerous continuing education courses including massage therapy and computer classes.

These opportunities are open for all citizens in Moorhead, Fargo, Dilworth, and West Fargo.

“Our partnership with Moorhead Community Ed has been very beneficial for us,” Dean of Faculty, Melinda Rustad said. “These classes fall right in line with our mission of continuing education for both our younger and older citizens.”

With the resounding success of the first ‘Junior Vet Tech Camp’, there are plans to add more of these workshops in the future.

“It was a lot of fun and I definitely hope we do it again soon,” said Vet Tech Club President Jill Guttormson.
