5 Ways to Ensure a Successful Start to Your Online Classes

Welcome to the start of a new quarter at Globe University-Online! Hopefully you were able to enjoy your break over the last two weeks and are feeling refreshed and focused on your education and, ultimately, your career goals.

In order to ensure your success as an Online student, we wanted to take a moment and highlight a few points that will help you make sure you get things started off on the right foot.

Logging into your Campus Connect portal early in the week will ensure you have access to all of your classes and other resources you may need.

1. Complete the online orientation course in your Campus Connect portal.

The purpose of the online orientation course is to familiarize students with the layout and functions within their Campus Connect portal. A typical student usually takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete the course and should be able to navigate their portal quickly and easily upon its completion.

2. Set up your iPad®

Setting up your iPad® is a great way to familiarize yourself with the device. We’ve even provided you with a step-by-step tutorial located on the home screen of your Campus Connect portal. From there, you’ll log in with your Apple ID (or create one for free if you don’t already have one), set up your WI-FI, and download any apps that might be necessary for your education.

3. Log in as soon as possible

Logging into your student account early in the week will help you make sure the correct class schedule is showing and you don’t have any holds or blocks on your account that would prevent you from accessing your classes and homework. An added bonus of logging in early in the week is that you can get an idea of what your homework load is; this will help you to effectively manage your time throughout the rest of the week.

4.  Set up a homework schedule for yourself—and stick to it

One of the best ways to beat homework overload is to create a homework schedule for yourself. By doing just a little bit each day, you are more likely to focus better and more consistently on the task in front of you versus having to rush through something in order to get everything turned in on time.

5. Check your student account

While many of our students use financial aid to support their educational costs, it is still important to check your student account. This is where you’ll find out how your student aid is being distributed and whether or not there are any outstanding balances you’ll need to take care of. Having an outstanding balance could potentially prevent you from accessing your classes, so to ensure you stay on track, it’s important to check this area of your Campus Connect portal.
