What have you learned from the 2012 Olympic Games?

Every few years the world gathers to cheer on their country’s athletes at the Olympic Games.  And for every Olympics the media will profile those athletes that overcame tragedy to reach triumph on a global stage. Such as, Felix Sanchez’ inspiring story of winning in Athens, to lose in Beijing on the day his grandmother passed away to return to London and win the 400 meter hurdles.  Or, Aly Raisman overcoming the mental challenge of losing the bronze medal in one competition because of a tie breaker to come back later and win a bronze and gold medal.

What can all of us learn from the athlete’s experiences?  We can learn that illness, injuries and distractions can be overcome.  The greatest of obstacles can be surmounted with determination, support and a positive attitude.   You can achieve whatever your goal may be including achieving honors, earning your degree or mastering a skill that is important in your career.  So, next time you encounter a challenge think back to watching your favorite athlete overcome their obstacles to and remember that you can do it too.
