paralegal degreeAttention students earning a paralegal degree! Could you use an extra $1,000 to help with your educational needs? If so, you’re in luck!

The Madison Area Paralegal Association is offering two scholarships to students currently enrolled in paralegal programs in the Madison area. For the first time, these scholarships will be open to students at Globe University. The scholarships are $1,000 each, and are being offered for the beginning of the 2013 school year.

The scholarship recipients will be selected based on financial need, grade point average, community involvement, and leadership skills. The application must be submitted by Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, and award letters will be mailed in January 2013. The application consists of a basic information form and four long-answer questions. Students need not be current members of the Madison Area Paralegal Association to apply for the scholarships.

The Madison Area Paralegal Association (MAPA) is a group of paralegals serving the Dane County, Wisconsin area whose primary goals are to promote the paralegal profession and to provide educational and growth opportunities to members of the profession.

MAPA events include “Lunch and Learns,” which offer area paralegals and paralegal students an opportunity to meet with others in the profession and learn about various legal topics of interest. Student memberships in MAPA are available at a reduced rate, $25 per year.
