SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (June 2, 2014) – They say in order to truly understand someone’s experience, you must walk a mile in his or her shoes. The Globe University-Sioux Falls campus has teamed up with the Compass Center, advocates for ending sexual and domestic violence, to host a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 9 a.m. – noon, where members of the community will be doing just that. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes aims to raise awareness for abuse and assault against women by asking participants to literally walk one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes. This fun event gets the community to talk about the serious issues related to gender relations and sexual violence. The walk will begin at the Globe University campus and will stretch throughout one mile in the community. The media is welcome to attend. Please contact Naomi McDonald, Director of Communications at firstname.lastname@example.org or 651-332-8269.
