Globe University Students to Provide Security for Annual Augie’s Poker Run

LA CROSSE, Wis. (August 21, 2014) – Criminal justice students from the Globe University-La Crosse campus will be providing security for the hundreds of attendees at Augie’s Poker Run event on Saturday, August 23 from 4 p.m. to midnight. Students will work at the entrances and exits of the area surrounding Augie’s to ensure no one underage without adult supervision is entering. The annual Poker Run is sponsored by Augie’s Bar and Grill and raises money for New Horizons Shelter and Outreach Center, an organization that provides assistance for victims of domestic abuse. Participants stop at five bars to pick up a card to complete a poker hand, and the event also includes live music and a street dance. Last year the event raised $2,000.
