Business of Massage Students Market Their Experience

Business of Massage students applied their skills and shared their experiences at the Career and Technical Education Academy, CTE, in Sioux Falls. Our massage students presented educational/marketing materials about our massage program for the instructors and students at CTE. To help showcase their skills, the GU students offered chair massages to the faculty of CTE which was a nice treat considering the night before this event, was CTE’s open house.

Sioux Falls Career and Technical Education Academy opened in Fall 2010 and is part of the Sioux Falls school district. The mission of CTE is to educate and prepare each student to succeed in a changing world. There are 13 programs offered to students at CTE, one of which is a health sciences program. GU- Sioux Falls massage students presented to two different classes which consisted of roughly 40 students taking classes at CTE. The Business of Massage students presented to the students what a career in Massage Therapy consists of, what classes and degrees are offered at GU-Sioux Falls, and share their reasons for enrolling in the Massage Therapy program. They were able to present the Massage Therapy program from a student’s point of view as well as answer any questions that were presented. Business of Massage student Chad Alfson stated that it was “great for a realistic hands-on experience, combining our class knowledge with customer service and marketing skills, prepares us for our future career.”

This event was a great opportunity to share about what Globe University has to offer as well as provide much needed relaxation for the member to CTE’s staff. The networking and new partnership has opened doors for more opportunities for our students to get involved in the community as well as showcase their skills, not only massage skills but marketing skills as well.
