Dogs Lend a Paw to American Cancer Society

Vet tech class hosts ’Bark for Life’ event benefitting American Cancer Society

Who better than “Man’s Best Friend” to help the fight against cancer? Vet tech students demonstrated healthy dog-care tips at the American Cancer Society’s “Bark for Life” fundraising event in support of cancer research, education and awareness.

Students illustrated simple dental care—essential to a dog’s good health. They showed pet owners what to do, how to hold a dog’s mouth and properly apply special canine toothpaste.

Owners and their dogs also participated in the Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” walk—with the dogs, listed as “canine companions.” Besides cancer awareness, both events promoted healthy lifestyle habits like walking.

“Bark for Life” proceeds went to the Chippewa County Relay for Life.
