Students create promotional web video for grad’s local business
Sales and Marketing of Fitness students at Globe University-Woodbury applied their fitness and video production skills to create a promotional web video for alumnus Gerardo Aguirre’s gym.
Aguirre manages individualized and group athletic training programs through G-Force Fitness Solutions at Victory Sports and Fitness. He wanted a web video illustrating how his training could be both challenging and fun.
“Service-learning projects are all about getting into the community and helping people in our field,” said student Kevin Alexander. “Luckily, one of our alumni has his own gym so we helped him by creating a promotional video about his ‘G-FITT’ class.”
The students visited the gym to determine what they wanted to film and then developed a storyboard back on campus. They then returned to the gym for interviews and filming.
“Working on the promotional video for G-Force was a great learning experience,” said student Jessica Vick. “It expanded my knowledge of video making, which will help me later in my career if I want to post my own workout video sessions online.”
She added, “I received one-on-one experience with interviewing and editing a video. Overall, it was a lot of fun being able to be creative with the service-learning project.”
