DECA Students Have Successful Conference

Globe University Sioux Falls DECA recently traveled to Mankato, MN to compete in the Collegiate DECA Conference. The competition had roughly 300 plus students competing and with that number the three Sioux Falls students had a successful showing.

Students Andre Lyngen was a finalist in Entrepreneurship, Zaide Gray was a finalist in Retail Management and Sydney Siemonsma was a finalist in Restaurant and Food Service Management and Hospitality Management. These three students will be travelling to Salt Lake City, Utah to compete in the Regional Competition.

The three DECA competitors were able to show case their skills in case studies and business simulations provided at the competition. Students received the case study and from that were given an allotted prep time before presenting their information to business and industry professionals.

Andy Lyngen also received a Student Service Award for going above and beyond. Collegiate DECA offers students the opportunity to compete and put their experiences, skills and knowledge to the test. Throughout the last few months DECA has been collecting canned foods to donate to a local food bank. The students collected 232 pounds of food.
